Moves to your own beat

Plug your MP3 player into the AUX jack and pump up the volume with the audio steering controls*.

The Mazda2’s CD player/stereo radio - standard for all models - is MP3 compatible, so you can take along all those discs. Even better, take along your MP3 player - plug it into the auxiliary jack and you can enjoy your carefully-crafted soundtrack uninterrupted between home and Mazda2.

Depending on the model you choose, there are two, four or six speakers to blast your music out of. And with audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, on selected models*, just a flick of the fingers is all it takes to set the ideal mood.

Lean, fit and friendly

Lively engines and the light yet strong body make for fun, fuel-efficient and low emission driving.

Powerful yet economical - the range of three petrol and a diesel engine satisfies both your thrill-seeking and your penny-pinching sides. And the class-leading fuel-efficiency - ably assisted by the lightweight yet robust body - helps to keep you on good terms with the planet, by keeping CO2 emissions to a bare minimum.

The latest 1.4-litre (68ps) common-rail turbo diesel engine is a case in point, consuming just 4.3 litres of fuel per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 114 g/km.

So the Mazda2 has all the agility and responsiveness you demand to make urban driving a cinch, like the ability to turn on a dime (well, a 9.8m turning circle).

Generous and sociable

Hang out with all your mates with able room for all your gear.

Great to look at, fun to drive and economical to run.  And surprisingly spacious.

This car comfortably seats you and four mates, plus all the baggage that comes with that. Leave the friends behind, fold down the rear seatbacks and the 250-litre boot expands to 787 litres of volume.

There’s useful storage closer to hand too, including a glove box with an open magazine rack, perfect for your road atlases.  And because driving can be thirsty work, the front door pockets will hold a 0.5 litre bottle. All very refreshing.  Its no wonder the Mazda2 was internationally voted World Car of the Year 2008.

Expects the unexpected

NCAP 5-star adult occupant protection, rain sensor* and auto headlights* - you can cope with anything.

Driving should be a pleasure, not a worry. That’s why the Mazda2 5dr is officially one of the safest superminis on the road. Euro NCAP gave it five-stars for adult occupant protection - the highest score possible. Plus a further four stars for child protection and two stars for pedestrian protection.

To help avoid trouble, superb braking performance is complemented by a four-wheel antilock braking system (4W-ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, standard on Sport SE models, prevents oversteer and understeer.
But in the event of a collision, the Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System ensures that you feel less of a shock. A crash-resistant passenger cell and up to six airbags soften the blow even more.

And if battling the elements isn’t your idea of fun, the Mazda2 Sport SE* rides to the rescue with fog lights, rain sensing wipers and auto lights as standard.
